The paintings of this period followed on from my drawings with collage.

 

I found that I was inspired by items that I had collected and stored in my studio.

 

I also realised that I was able to include found objects in these images and I explored the possibility of combining unrelated elements.

 

I was excited by the visual beauty and dramatic nature of ordinary objects and noticed how exposure to the elements and the passage of time added to the character of these objects.
